How to Set Gambling Limits Before You Play

A simple pre-session checklist for time, money, and stop-loss rules on slots and sports.

Updated 2026-08-17. 21+ only. Gambling is entertainment, not income.

Write the limits down first

Decide the session budget, the maximum number of deposits, and the stop time while you are still away from the cashier. Once the game is open, those decisions get worse.

A useful default is one entertainment budget per week that cannot be topped up. If that feels restrictive, the original budget was already too high.

Use operator tools

Most regulated and major offshore brands offer deposit limits, session reminders, cooling-off, and self-exclusion. Turn deposit limits on before the first deposit, not after a losing night.

If you find yourself disabling limits, treat that as a problem behavior, not a settings issue. Help resources are listed on our responsible play page.

  • No borrowed money.
  • No play while drinking or exhausted.
  • Wins do not increase the budget. They end the session or sit unused.

Questions

What if I hit my limit mid-feature?

Finish only the already-triggered round if the game requires it, then stop. Do not spin again to 'use the leftover credits' beyond the plan.
